Visioning
What do I want? What is my true heart's desire at this time in my life?
Visioning
Visioning can go hand in hand with Inner Child Work because often it is because we have pushed away or silenced our inner child voice, that we have lost touch with how we really want our lives to be. It may be that we feel we just don't know anymore what we want. But somewhere deep down, we do know. Of course life has it's restrictions and challenges. We have responsibilities that must be fulfilled. But then what? Are there nagging, unresolved yearnings? Parts of ourselves we have never developed?Activities or pastimes we've let go of but that bring us joy? By getting in touch with our deeper longings, and accessing our imagination through play and creative activities, we can begin to steer our lives where necessary more towards our inner child self
Creative play techniques
Just like with the Inner Child Work, there are many tools available to us to access our inner thoughts and emotions, like writing, drawing, playing with clay, collaging as well as other games and questions that can stimulate responses from parts of ourselves we may find hard to access. You don't have to be an artist or talented in writing or drawing in order to do these things. Everyone can express themselves in their own way, without judgement or criticism but it's certainly not about a artistic prowess. Nevertheless, we may be surprised at the beauty and cleverness of what comes out.
Workshops
I run workshops face to face and online in which I guide participants through various creative play based activities. For example, finding and cutting out pictures and words from magazines to create a "vision board" collage of the future, reflecting some pre-decided area of life, can be a source of insight into our own desires and preferences. These activities can help each person get in touch with thoughts and feelings about their lives and think about how their lives could be improved. There can be a particular area we wish to develop, like a better work-life balance and more time to have fun or the kind of house we'd like to live in. Or it can be an overall vision for our lives five, ten or twenty years hence.
